Emirati businessman presents ‘Argentine football house’ to Messi fans, farmers in Kerala

[ad_1]

Dubai: Lionel Messi jerseys and a giant football sculpture adorn a football-themed house in the colors of Argentina. Word is circulating about this “Argentina house” after an Indian businessman from the UAE gifted it to a “football commentator” during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar It is widely spread in the southern Indian state of Kerala.

Afi Ahmed, managing director of UAE-based Smart Travels, built this house for Subair Vazhakkad, a farmer in Vazhakkad village in Kerala’s football-mad Malapuram district.

The whole district celebrated Sunday night when Afi joined Subair for the housewarming.

“This is my dream home. I can’t thank him enough,” Subel told Gulf News by phone.

Afe said he was very happy to be able to offer “the most suitable gift to die-hard Argentine fans”.

Subel’s comments in the local Malayalam language went viral on social media during the FIFA World Cup match. Despite not having any professional qualifications, the small farmer knew all the teams and players inside and out.

Afi flew a young Messi fan from Kerala, Muhammad Nibras, to Qatar after video of him crying after Argentina’s historic loss to Saudi Arabia went viral. After hearing about Subair’s love for football, the businessman offered to fly him too to watch his favorite footballer play at the World Cup.

However, Subair had to decline the offer because he had to take care of sick family members. Affi then offered to rebuild Subel’s dilapidated house and gifted him an Argentine-themed house.
