The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation’s pavilion at the Sheikh Zayed Festival Heritage Village has planned a series of events, performances and competitions, including a series of traditional cooking competitions highlighting authentic Emirati cuisine.
The pavilion is one of the most prominent locations of the festival each year, as it plays an important role in highlighting the festival message, the development and progress of the international event, and expressing its educational message to UAE residents and visitors from different countries participating in this heritage event nationality.
Over the course of 120 days, there will be a daily cook-off of the best Emirati dishes by community chefs and foodies, and will feature foodies and culinary connoisseurs with a passion for authentic Emirati cuisine.
There are eight competitions in the traditional culinary competition, and each competition lasts for 12 days. During the period, each dish provided every day will be tasted, judged and scored, and the final decision will be made on the 12th day.
Al Jami, Al Memroosa, Al Khadid, Al Thwaba, Al Bzar, Al Qoras, Al Ajar and Al Yaqat are the eight main dishes in the competition. At the end of each competition, the results are announced and the contestants are free to choose which of the eight dishes to prepare.
To make their food of choice, participants are encouraged to use only historically accurate ingredients and flavors.
In addition to encouraging tourists and Emirati citizens to learn more about Emirati cuisine and promoting it internationally, the event also seeks to introduce and preserve Emirati culinary traditions for future generations. – WAM
