Ericsson and Zain Group collaborate on sustainable development

Ericsson and Zain Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop and explore joint sustainable development plans for a more energy-efficient future network.

The partnership will enable both companies to reduce their carbon footprint and support their net-zero transition.

Building on their longstanding and strong relationship, the new sustainability plan will explore ways to reduce energy consumption and waste generation within the Zain Group network.

Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson will use its global expertise to deliver seminars on sustainable networking topics. The two companies will also co-host a series of energy-saving strategic knowledge-sharing events, such as Ericsson’s “Breaking the Energy Curve” program to support the Zain Group in reducing energy and carbon emissions through the deployment of Ericsson products, solutions, functions and services. Serve.

In addition, they will explore opportunities to collaborate on Ericsson’s global product take-back programme, which supports the responsible handling and recycling of e-waste. As part of the company’s Extended Producer Responsibility, Ericsson helps reduce its environmental impact by taking back obsolete products from its partners for safe disposal.

According to Ericsson’s Road to Breaking the Energy Curve report, the ICT industry has the potential to reduce total global industrial emissions by up to 15%.
