The UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has signed an agreement with Etihad Aviation Group to offer new incentives to companies certified under the National Domestic Value (ICV) scheme. Incentives include Etihad discounts on cargo rates and in-flight miles.

In a statement, the ministry said the MoU builds on the close links between the ministry and Etihad Airways, which has joined the ICV program to support the objectives of the National Industrial and Advanced Technology Strategy, and Promote sustainable industrial growth.

It added that since joining the national ICV scheme, Etihad Airways has been encouraging international suppliers to set up branches in the UAE to attract more foreign investment and strengthen supply chains.

The MoU was signed by Abdullah Al Shamsi, Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Development, and Mohammad Al Bulooki, Etihad Aviation Group Chief Operating Officer, at the recent Make it in the Emirates Forum in Abu Dhabi

Al Shamsi said, “The National ICV Program is one of the pillars of our national industrial strategy. It supports certified companies by increasing demand for local products and services, thereby stimulating the growth of the industrial sector and the resilience of domestic supply chains.”

“Etihad Aviation Group is one of the ministry’s strategic national partners. Its inclusion in the national ICV scheme in 2021 and prioritizing local suppliers in its procurement strategy reflects the commitment of major national companies to support the country’s commitment to continued industrial and economic development,” he noted.

Al Shamsi said the MoU is in line with the ministry’s efforts to help local manufacturers increase exports to regional and international markets.

“It also supports our work to attract foreign direct investment by enhancing the UAE’s industrial value proposition and providing advantages and incentives that support the UAE’s position as a global industrial and advanced technology hub,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
