Jay Vine signs with Emirates, ends early contract with Alpecin-Deceuninck

Jay Teng Has signed a two-year contract with the company Emirates Team Emirates This will keep him on the team through 2024, ending his relationship with Alpecin-Deceuninck a year in advance.

“I am delighted to be joining the Emirates team. With their strong driver mix and GC experience, this is the logical next step in my career,” said Vine.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity Alpecin has given me and how they have helped me find my place in the big group. I am very motivated for the new season at the Emirates and eager to further my GC ambitions while helping the boys to score some goals ball.”

Vine, who turned pro in 2021 after winning the Zwift Academy the year before, was one of the stars of this year’s Tour de España. He has two stage victories and looks set to take home the mountain classification jersey before crashing in the final week.

Alpecin-Deceuninck confirmed that Vine had ended his contract with the team early and expressed respect for his decision to leave.

“Jay Vine still has an agreement with our team until the end of 2023. We would have liked to keep him with us longer, but we respect his willingness to leave sooner,” the team said. “Jay is proving the way the Zwift Academy works. But the Zwift Academy is also creating opportunities: if Jay Vine thinks he can develop faster as a GC rider for the Emirates, we don’t want to deprive him of that opportunity, even considering his transfer It’s too late for the age of the pros.”
