JK Rowling: ‘Robbie Coltrane did it once’ | Entertainment

[ad_1]

JK Rowling praised the late Robbie Coltrane for being “total” and thanked him for making her laugh.

After the actor who played beloved Hogwarts gamekeeper Hagrid died on Friday (10/14/22) at the age of 72, the “Harry Potter” writer paid tribute to those involved in the film franchise.

About half an hour after his death, she tweeted: “I’ll never know someone like Robbie again. He was an incredible genius, a complete genius, I’m lucky to know He, working with him, laughing with him. My love and deepest condolences to his family, especially his children.”

Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe added that Robbie “used to make us laugh non-stop” on the set of the Witcher movie that paid tribute to him.

In a statement to Variety, he said: “Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve ever met, and he used to make us laugh like kids on set.

“I especially love his memory of keeping spirits up in Prisoner of Azkaban, when we all hid in Hagrid’s cabin for hours from a torrential rain, and he told stories and jokes to keep morale up.

“I feel very lucky to have met and worked with him and am very saddened by his passing,” Radcliffe added. “He’s an amazing actor and a lovely person.”

Fred Weasley actor James Phelps recalled Robbie Coltrane’s kindness to the Potter films, tweeting: ” I’ll never forget in September 2000 Robbie Coltrane came to a very nervous 14-year-old me on my first day on set and said, ‘Enjoy it, you’ll be Awesome’. Thank you for that x.”

Other tribute cast members included Line of Duty’s Daniel Mays, who tweeted: “So sad to hear about the great Robbie Coltrane. In Harry Potter, National Treasure and many more performances Zhongdu was eliminated, but it was Fitz from the TV classic “Cookies” that stood out to me.

“No one can play the role like him. Leading the show in the best possible way.”

Robbie’s longtime friend and former co-star Stephen Fry tweeted: “I first met Robbie Coltrane almost 40 years ago. I was in awe/fear/love at the same time.

“Such depth, power and talent: it was enough to cause helpless hiccups and honks when we made our first TV show, ‘Alfresco’.

“Goodbye, old man. You will be so horribly missed.”

Scotland’s first minister has called Glasgow Robbie “a legend in entertainment”.

She praised his “breadth and depth” as an actor, “from brilliant comedy to hard-edged drama,” adding that her favorites were his alcoholic, angry, serial-smoking “Cookie” role.

Ms Sturgeon added: “Scottish entertainment legend Robbie Coltrane – you will be sorely missed. RIP.”

Since Robbie’s agent Belinda Wright announced Friday: “My client and friend Robbie Coltrane OBE passed away on Friday, October 14th… Will remember him as a forever loyal customer.

“Not only was he a great actor, he was forensically brilliant and very witty, and I will miss him after 40 years of proudly being called his agent.”

She added that he was survived by his sister Anne Ray, his children Spencer and Alice, and their mother Rhona Gemmell, a sculptor and Robbie. Robbie) married in 1999 and divorced four years later.
