NEW YORK — On Tuesday, an attorney for Kevin Spacey tried to poke a hole in the story of another actor who claims Spacey sexually assaulted him when he was a teenager.

Rapp said that when he was 14, Spacey invited him and friends to a nightclub after meeting them backstage at a Broadway play starring Spacey. He testified that they went home immediately after the nightclub outing without incident.
However, the then-teenage friend said in a deposition that the couple actually went to Spacey’s apartment and described Spacey’s attempts to lure the friend into having sex.
“You know there’s something wrong with your story, right?” Keller asked, given the friend’s testimony.
“I have no problem with his story. I just don’t remember,” Rapp said.
According to Rapp, he went to the first party at Spacey’s apartment a few days later. He testified that Spacey forced himself onto the bed after the other guests left — an accusation that Spacey denies.
The cross-examination took place in the second week of the trial, which stemmed from allegations that Rapp first made public in 2017 before indicting Spacey. Similar claims largely shut down Spacey’s career, with multiple allegations involving inappropriate touching or sexual advances.
As a teenager, Rapp, 50, starred in films such as The Nanny. He went on to become the original cast member of “Rent” on Broadway, and is now a regular on “Star Trek: Discovery” on TV.
Asked by his own lawyers earlier Tuesday, Rapp recounted how he confided in a classmate after meeting Spacey. He said he told the friend that while he was watching TV in the bedroom, Spacey “came in drunk and picked me up like a bridegroom picking up a bride, and then he climbed on top of me and tried to have sex with me, and I managed to Twist.”
He also recalled how traumatized he was when he saw a Spacey movie when he was in high school. He said he felt “stuck with a bull stick. Like I was jumping out of my seat. Adrenaline. Sweaty palms.”
He testified that in 1999, Rapp met Spacey by chance in the restroom of the Tony Awards.
“Kevin Spacey walked in the door while I was washing my hands,” he said. “I looked at him and he looked at me. That was startling. … I desperately wanted to escape.”
Rapp’s lawyer – responding to the defense’s claim that Rapp was obsessed with Spacey – asked him: “Have you ever had a crush on Kevin Spacey?”
“No, I didn’t,” he replied.
