Justin and Miranda Embry turned their love of music into a career after meeting at a Christian music event in 2001. As co-founders of LS Music Promotions, they are now concert promoters and booking agents, and have also dabbled in band management in hopes of bringing more live music to Owensboro.

“Concert organizers take a financial risk by putting on a show and recovering the money through ticket sales,” says Miranda Embry. “It’s our responsibility to make sure the bands get paid, the venue is looked after and so on, and if we don’t recoup those costs through ticket sales, then those costs are going to come out of our pockets.”

As booking agents, they work on both sides of the event – helping bands play shows both locally and abroad, and working with venues to ensure they are booked to play. As Artist Manager, LS Music helps arrange studios and productions as well as advertising, social media and promotions.

The pair are currently holding management positions for a band and a hip-hop artist to increase their exposure.

“We’re booking shows for several bands from around the world and doing concerts with local, regional and national bands,” Embry said. “Some of the national bands we’ve worked with include Scotty Ausit (formerly Saving Abel), The Almas, Dead Reckoning, Seventh Day Slumber, Streetlight Circus, The Other LA, and Clozure, and a whole bunch of regional bands and bands from Evansville , Louisville, Nashville, Lexington, et cetera.”

Locally, LS Music has worked with Paradox Pointe, The Barrows, Kapable, DJ Sufflex, Derailed, Tha Dumpster Babies, Zach Jennings Music and DJ Puzlbox.

“Music has always been a big part of our lives, and once our kids get older, we can start doing more of it, constantly driving to concerts in Nashville, Louisville, or whatever, we’re old, so we decided to bring the concert to Owensboro,” Embry said.

In the future, the couple hopes to open a recording studio so that bands and artists can stay local without having to travel long distances to fully produce tracks and albums.

“The ultimate goal is to open our own all-ages venue that can host multiple shows a week,” she said. “The music industry used to be bigger in the 2000s and pre-COVID. We’re just doing what we can to help it rebuild more genres than just country and bluegrass,” Embry said.
