Reminder Issued: Dh1,000 Fine for Littering from Car Windows in the UAE

Abu Dhabi City Municipality organized an event, ‘Our City is Beautiful,’ aimed at reinforcing the importance of traffic safety and following traffic rules. The event, which took place at Rabdan Park in Zayed City, was a collaborative effort involving various entities, including Shakhbout City Schools, Al Ahlya Hospital, Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company, and Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority.

Safety Emphasis

During the event, Dean Mahmoud Youssef Al Balushi, Director of the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols, underlined Abu Dhabi Police’s commitment to promoting traffic safety among community members. He specifically warned families and children about the hazards of using e-scooters on public roads, urging them to employ these scooters exclusively in designated areas equipped with proper protective gear.

E-scooter Safety Awareness: Fine for Littering

The Dubai Police recently disclosed that several e-scooter accidents had resulted in five fatalities and 29 injuries across the emirate in the past eight months. They, too, emphasized the significance of adhering to road safety regulations. Major-General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the Traffic Department in Dubai, mentioned that over 10,000 fines were imposed on e-scooter riders during this period. Moreover, they recorded 32 accidents attributed to the “improper use” of e-scooters, with varying levels of injuries, ranging from minor to severe cases.

Winter Vacation Safety: Fine for Littering

During the Abu Dhabi event, Assistant Tariq Muhammad Hamidan from the Public Relations Department of the Directorate delivered an awareness lecture highlighting the necessity of supervising children during the winter vacation. He stressed the importance of keeping children engaged and safeguarding them from the perils of e-scooter usage.

Preserving the Emirate’s Appearance: Fine for Littering

The lecture further underscored the significance of preserving the aesthetic appeal of Abu Dhabi by discouraging the disposal of waste from vehicles onto the roads. In the event of such a violation, Article 71 of the Traffic Act would be invoked, resulting in a fine of Dh1,000 and the imposition of six black points on the driver’s license.
