Space tourism company Halo plans second test flight

Halo Space, a global space tourism company developed through Arthur D. Little’s groundbreaking incubator program, announced the next phase of its journey with the launch of its innovative Edge of Space experience.

Halo Space’s second test will take place in southern Spain this year, following a successful first test flight in India last December.

Halo Space aims to allow 10,000 passengers to experience the “panoramic effect” during this decade, observing both the curvature of the Earth and the darkness of space. Beginning in 2025, each Halo Space flight will send eight passengers 40 kilometers into the stratosphere for transformative experiences lasting four to six hours.

Halo Space’s mission is to provide safe, sustainable and environmentally friendly travel and aims to lead the commercial space travel market, which analysts predict will reach $14 billion by 2030. The company has been supported by Arthur D. Little since its inception and has a long history in space technology dating back to the Apollo missions in the 1960s.

Thomas Kuruvilla, Managing Partner of Arthur D. Little Middle East and Halo Space Board Member, said: “Halo Space is a result of Arthur D. Little’s groundbreaking incubator program, and the next test flight is a major milestone in the development of space tourism. .Each component of the Halo concept, including the stratospheric balloon, capsule prototype, onboard systems and parachute descent, has been successfully tested in collaboration with our technology partners. This demonstrates the technology and safety measures in place to enable civilian capable of suborbital flight.”

Priced between $100,000 and $200,000, Halo Space aims to make 400 commercial trips and carry 3,000 passengers a year from 2029. This will make space travel affordable for millions, inspiring a new generation of explorers and innovators to push the boundaries of space possibility.

Halo Space also sets safety standards for near-space systems and operations through its innovative Halo systems designed and built by five leading aerospace companies. It will operate year-round from spaceports on four continents, depending on the predictability of weather conditions, terrain, airspace and tourist appeal.

The ascents and descents to Halo Space are safe and gentle, making this once-in-a-lifetime activity accessible to adults of almost any age and physical condition. It plans to operate sustainable, environmentally friendly flights in line with its commitment to environmental responsibility.
