The Taqdeer Award, the world’s first points-based worker reward program, has awarded 68,938 special discount cards to workers involved in the construction of the magnificent Expo City complex.
The initiative is a continuation of a special ceremony honoring a total of 13 outstanding companies, contractors and service providers who nominated these workers for cards in recognition of these companies and their contributions to the implementation of Expo 2020 Dubai-related projects, and Demonstrate their commitment to ensuring the welfare of workers and building the best possible relationship with them and implementing the highest level of health, safety, quality and environment related services.
A first in the world, the card offers eligible outstanding employees the opportunity to save millions of dirhams each year in the form of special discounts at more than 60 stores and commercial establishments operating in Dubai.

Speaking at the conference, Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai), Chairman of the Dubai Standing Committee on Labour Affairs and Chairman of the Taqdeer Award, said: “Providing special discount cards to workers is the vision of the award, A living demonstration of the recognition of blue-collar workers and the sustainable pursuit of spreading a culture of excellence across Dubai’s employment sector.”

Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Ismail, Secretary General of Reward Cards, presented the discount cards to them during a special ceremony at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Connecting Minds campus. The ceremony was attended by Mohammed Al Mazimi, Director of Real Estate Development and Delivery at Expo City, as well as various award management members and related companies.

Lieutenant Colonel Ismail stressed that providing discount cards to the majority of workers will enable them to benefit from special discounts estimated to be in the millions of dirhams each year offered by 60 establishments and shops in Dubai in support of the award and its goals.
“We issued cards to the more than 69,000 workers of different professions and nationalities involved in the construction of the Expo City Tower, who completed this enormous project on time with dedication and loyalty. This move is a tribute to their hard work and dedication to their work. Loyalty is grateful,” he said.
He said: “Over 140,000 workers are currently benefiting from the discounts offered by the card, and this number will increase with the completion of the fifth round of the awards campaign, which will honour outstanding companies and workers next November. “
