Tom Cruise ‘making mass entertainment’; Tom Cruise’s weird myth revealed – Deadline


Ahead of the much-anticipated release Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1director Chris McQuarrie revealed what Tom Cruise Told him when they first met in 2006.

McQuarrie has been one of Cruise’s closest colleagues in the past three directorial stints Mission impossible film and producer Top Gun: Maverickfirst with Cruise Valkyrie, He told The Times that the veteran action star explained to him, “I make mass entertainment.”

“The Oscars are very important,” McQuarrie said. “Films that not many people will see. The industry has been driven into a wedge. Are you an artist or an entertainer? Tom doesn’t think they’re mutually exclusive.”

The director added that Cruise also revealed to him the weirdest story he’d ever heard about himself. The actor responded that the biggest myth about him is that people on set “are not allowed to look me in the eye.”
