A new travel warning has been issued for travelers to the United Arab Emirates as the UAE restricts entry to travelers with only one name on their passports.
According to the new announcement, UAE immigration officials have set new conditions for incoming travelers. Passengers with only one name on their passports will not be able to clear customs at UAE airports under the new conditions.
The passport holder is declared obliged to mention the name and the name of Mr., including father or husband. UAE authorities have also directed airlines to issue full-name tickets to passengers.
A private airline called SereneAir issued an announcement saying, “The UAE government has revised the naming guidelines for allowing entry into the UAE. According to the updated guidelines, the UAE Immigration Service will not accept any passport holders with only the first or last name, and passengers will be treated as Inadmissible passengers. Revised policy effective November 21, 2022.”
In addition, another private airline, airblue, announced, “According to the latest notification from the UAE NAIC, guests traveling on a visitor visa must hold a valid return ticket. Guests traveling on a visitor visa and holding a return ticket from any other Advance permission from NAIC is required at check-in.
“Due to the time required for API customs clearance, all guests holding return tickets with other airlines are kindly requested to report for check-in 4 hours before departure to avoid inconvenience. However, passengers holding airblue return tickets on one PNR may get Advance approval. All travel is subject to API approval,” the airline concluded.
