UAE lauded for ‘high level of capability’ in priority sectors

The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) supports leveraging the UAE’s competitive advantages to achieve growth across all sectors, thereby positioning the country as a global destination for the industry of the future.

“The UAE is committed to improving the ease of doing business by leveraging the country’s competitive advantages and reducing costs, with the aim of empowering the country’s industrial sector, attracting industrial investment, and creating commercially viable opportunities for national products.

“It also helps to increase the national domestic value (ICV) part of the public sector by increasing the contribution of the industrial sector to the national economy and increasing industrial exports in line with the National Industrial and Advanced Technology Strategy, while also supporting local industry by redirecting higher industries spending into the national economy,” said Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, who led a joint MoIAT and Ministry of Defense (MoD) delegation to the Tawazun Industrial Park and Tawazun Economic Center Council (Tawazun), Defense, Security and Aviation National Center for Industrial Complexity.

Dr. Al Jaber commended the commitment of government entities, large national companies, investors and manufacturers, including the Ministry of Defence, for the active role played by Edge and Tawazun in achieving national goals.

The delegation was welcomed by Tariq Abdul Rahim Al Hossani, CEO of Tawazun Economic Council; Faisal Al Bannai, Chairman of the Edge Board of Directors; Mansour Al Mulla, CEO of Edge Group; Tawazun Economic Council Matar Ali Al Romaithi, chief economic development ministry; and Faiz Saleh Al Nahdi, chief executive officer of Tawazun Industrial Park, as well as some officials of companies and factories operating within the facility.

The joint delegation was briefed on plans to develop and expand defense programs at Tawazun Park, including a presentation on the work of Halcon, the regional leader in precision-guided munitions.

The ongoing work by Tawazun and TIP enhances the UAE’s position as an attractive investment destination and lays the groundwork for sustainable partnerships within the industrial sector.

Al Bannai said: “This visit is part of a comprehensive strategy recently developed by MoIAT and Edge to accelerate the adoption of 4IR technologies in our product development roadmap to facilitate advanced manufacturing in the UAE’s defense sector to facilitate global exports. It was explained to the delegation that the Tawazun Industrial Park, home to the Tawazun Economic Council, aims to empower the defense, security and aerospace industries in the UAE by offering a package of incentives for the provision of industrial properties, including specialized facilities for various specialties in defense and aviation. It houses workshops, warehouses, showrooms, fully equipped offices and various types of staff housing, in a supportive atmosphere that helps facilitate growth and expansion for investors, whether in the Al-Ajban area or in Nibras Al-Ain Complex Al Ain.

It now hosts dozens of companies specializing in technology, innovation and R&D in the defense, security, aerospace and accessories industries, with additional capabilities in communication systems and education. The Tawazun Economic Council recently joined the National Domestic Value Program overseen by MoIAT. The plan succeeded in reallocating almost AED41 billion (US$11.16 billion) to the national economy in 2021.
