The UAE Padel Association has announced that it will host national qualifying padel championships in January and February this year, in coordination with the sports committees of the country’s emirates.

The event, called the UAE Wild Card Championship, will serve as the basis for the World Padel Tour. The partnership follows the announcement that Abu Dhabi will host the World Padel Tour – Modon Abu Dhabi Padel Master from 21st to 26th February at Bab Al Nojoum on Hudayriyat Island.

The UAE Wild Card Championship is expected to attract over 200 advanced padel teams from the UAE and the GCC. The championship will consist of six padel championships, with the finalists of each event receiving a “wild card” entry to qualify for the World Padel Tour “Modon Abu Dhabi Padel Master”.

In response, Saeed M Al Marri, Secretary General of the UAE Padel Association, said: “The UAE Padel Association is committed to strengthening the UAE’s position as a global padel hub and promoting the sport at home and abroad. Coordination with the National Sports Council is in line with our commitment to Many initiatives to achieve these goals.

Padel is gaining popularity in the sporting world of the UAE as various bodies, committees and sports bodies work to expand its practice within the community, especially among young people.

“With this in mind, our aim is to support the widest possible range of local padel players and enable them to gain a global reputation by staging more regional and international competitions in the UAE.

“Organizing this National Padel Championship will undoubtedly make a major contribution to the realization of these ambitions.

“We are delighted to be working closely with the sports committees in the various emirates to offer local cricket teams the opportunity to benefit from Abu Dhabi hosting the world’s number one professional cricket tour, the World Cricket Padel Tour – Modon Abu Dhabi Padel Master”.

Undoubtedly, giving citizens and residents of the UAE as well as GCC players who have official rankings with their local padel associations in their countries the opportunity to participate in this competition will help to achieve the goals of UAE padel to further develop the sport and its athletes. As well as associations that have made achievements to improve the country’s status in the international padel arena,” added Marri.

It is worth noting that the UAE Padel Association is currently finalizing discussions with Emirates Post Group to sponsor the national padel circuit, the Abu Dhabi Padel Masters 2023, details of which are expected to be announced later this week.
