Due to unstable weather conditions, the UAE Ministry of Education has allowed some schools to offer distance learning today (6th January 2023).

Schools offering Ministry of Education courses in Fujairah and the eastern region will be closed and operate remotely, Arab daily Al Khaleej reported.

Public schools and nurseries across the emirate have informed parents of the change via email and WhatsApp messages. A circular from one of the schools – seen by the Khaleej Times – stated the move was “for the safety of students in remote areas affected by weather conditions”.

The Home Office issued an alert yesterday warning residents of the unstable weather conditions.

Authorities asked residents to avoid flowing streams and ponds and told motorists to slow down on the roads. Residents were also asked to stay away from beaches and the sea.
