biofuel producer waste fuel plan to build middle EastThe first biomethanol plant of United Arab Emirates.
The company has signed a partnership agreement with a waste management company The golden mean WasteFuel is seeking to develop the first commercial-scale municipal waste-to-renewable methanol plant in the Middle East, WasteFuel said in an emailed statement on Monday.
The location of the plant is being studied, but the facility is expected to be in Jebel Ali. Methanol as a marine fuel could be a key market for the new plant’s output.
“Addressing the climate emergency requires exponential growth in renewable fuel supplies,” Trevor NelsonWasteFuel’s CEO said in a statement.
“The Middle East, especially Jebel Ali, is considered the gateway between the Western Hemisphere and the Far East.
“As WasteFuel works to produce green methanol for large-scale decarbonization, the opportunity to develop a biorefinery with Averda in the Middle East is an exciting and logical next step,”
WasteFuel to be one of the first producers to supply green methanol to container lines AP Moller-Maersk.
