New Delhi [India]March 1 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held bilateral talks with British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly on Wednesday to discuss launching the Young Professionals Programme.

He also exchanged views on the international situation and the G20 agenda.

“Had a bilateral meeting with UK Foreign Secretary @JamesCleverly this morning. Reviewed the progress of our relationship since last discussion. Special note on the launch of the Young Professionals programme. Also discussed the global situation and the G20 agenda,” Jaishankar tweeted road.

“During a visit today (Wednesday) to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Delhi, the Foreign Secretary will mark the launch of the Young Professionals Scheme, an ambitious new partnership between the UK and India that will allow 3,000 Britons and 3,000 Indians have the right to live and work in another country for up to two years a year,” read a press release from the British embassy.

Foreign Secretary Cleverley said that India is a very important partner of the UK, and “the deeper links we are building now will help develop the UK economy and promote future industrial development”.

Cleverley is in Delhi for the G20 foreign ministers meeting.

The British embassy in India tweeted: “He will also launch a new UK-India Young Professionals Program and announce the creation of the UK’s first Indo-Pacific technology envoy.”

Jaishankar also met with Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard and Comoros Foreign Minister Duisil Doyle Kamal.

He welcomed the opening of the Mexican Consulate in Mumbai.

At the same time, he assured Dholkamal that India’s G20 presidency would prioritize the voices of the global south.

Reiterate our unwavering support for our maritime neighbours, guided by our SAGAR policy. Assure him that India’s G20 presidency will Prioritizing the voices of the Global South,” EAM tweeted.

The G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) is scheduled for 1-2 March 2023 in New Delhi, where India holds the presidency.
