TOKYO, July 10 (AP) — At least six people were missing on Monday as heavy rains hit southwestern Japan, triggering flooding and mudslides.
Since the weekend, rain in Kyushu and China has caused many rivers to flood, mudslides, road closures, train interruptions, and water supply interruptions in some areas.
The Japan Meteorological Agency issued an emergency heavy rain warning for Fukuoka and Oita prefectures in southern Kyushu, urging residents in riverside and hillside areas to remain vigilant. More than 1.7 million residents of vulnerable areas were urged to shelter.
