UAE and Japan strengthen ties through agreement signings

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida witnessed the exchange of Moues and agreements in Abu Dhabi, further strengthening the robust ties between the two nations.

The ceremony took place during the official visit of the Japanese Prime Minister to the UAE at Qasr Al Watan.

The agreements were exchanged by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of the Presidential Court, and Yoshihiko Isozaki, Japan’s Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary.Vladimir Putin arrives in UAE for historic state visit - Radio Shoma

The agreements included:


  • The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of agriculture and fisheries.
  • The UAE Ministry of Economy and the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of tourism.
  • The UAE Ministry of Education and the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of education.
  • Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding has been established between the UAE Space Agency, the Japanese Cabinet Office, the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry, pertaining to space activities for peaceful purposes.
  • Furthermore, a Joint Declaration of Intent has been agreed upon between the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry for the establishment of an Energy Security and Industry Accelerator (ESIA)
  • A Joint Statement on Climate Action was issued by the leaders of Japan and the UAE. Additionally, various memoranda and agreements were announced between government agencies and private entities in both countries, encompassing vital sectors such as sustainability, space science, technology, the environment, renewable energy, transportation, healthcare, infrastructure, industry, and more.
