DHAKA, 15th May, 2023 (WAM) — Syed Mubarak Hajri, Assistant Minister, Ministry of Economic and Trade Affairs, participated in the 6th Indian Ocean Conference under the theme ‘Peace, Prosperity and Partnership, Building a Resilient Future Together”.
In his speech, Al Hajri emphasized that the UAE is keen to work closely with Indian Ocean countries and the international community to strengthen multilateral cooperation in the field of climate change.
Al Hajri noted that the UAE, as host of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), believes in the importance of global cooperation to advance climate action and achieve a sustainable low-carbon future.
In this regard, he stressed that the UAE remains firmly committed to organizing a transparent and inclusive COP28, as the country sees climate action as an opportunity to support sustainable regional and international growth.
During the meeting, Al Hajri met Shahriar Alam, Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh; Faisal Naseem, Vice President of the Republic of Maldives; and Jaishankar, Foreign Minister of the Republic of India, to discuss bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
