The word “lucha libre” literally means “free wrestling,” and is known to audiences for its high-flying acrobatic moves and the colorful masks worn by luchadores (wrestlers).
MCHC President Miguel Lopez shared, “We are delighted to partner with Chichen Itzá to highlight a part of Mexican tradition and culture known as the lucha libre. During our discussion with ChiChen Itzá In, they shared their desire to be involved and active in the community. They are not an out-of-state promotion or a company that invites a circus to one night and then walks away. They want to work with and learn about the community. It’s fun to be involved in events like this. I grew up watching El Santo, Blue Demon, Mil Mascaras and the rest, so free wrestling in our backyard was fun for me and reminded me of my childhood in Monterey.”

The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has been a great advocate, not only because of what we are doing as a business and this event Achievement, but also for the Hispanic community,” said Cesar Espinoza, CEO of ChiChen Itzá Entertainment.
