The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) has announced the latest edition of “Call from Space”, this time not in partnership with the UAE, but with Mauritius.

The fourth installment of the live call series is scheduled to take place in Mauritius on May 11 at 3pm UAE time.

In a recent deal with the island nation aimed at supporting its space sector, MBRSC on Wednesday announced the international debut of “Call From Space,” a live call series hosted by Emirati astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi.

As part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), MBRSC will collaborate to send Mauritius payloads as part of the PHI-1 mission and provide training for engineers.

MBRSC’s PHI-1 aims to provide a modular satellite platform to foster innovation in space technology and encourage collaboration among government entities, universities and other organizations.

Demonstrating the importance of global partnerships and exchange of expertise in the space sector, the event is a follow-up to the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between MBRSC, Space Mauritius and the Ministry of Information Technology, Communications and Innovation.

The agreement outlines a joint effort to assist the Mauritian space industry in strengthening human resources and providing technical support.

The exclusive event drew nearly 400 guests, including students and space enthusiasts from across the city, who had registered to attend.

Calling From Space is an initiative that provides the public with the opportunity to interact with Sultan Al Neyadi as he narrates his remarkable journey from being a candidate for the UAE Astronaut Program to his current role as a crew member of the International Space Station.

The mission was the longest Arab space mission to date, making the call a historic event. Attendees can look forward to gaining insight into Sultan’s experiences and asking him questions about his life in space.

“Calling From Space” aims to promote space and STEM education for future generations and encourage young people to dream big and join the thriving field of space.

The UAE Astronaut Program is one of the projects managed by MBRSC under the UAE National Space Program and funded by the ICT Fund of the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), which aims to support research and development in the UAE’s ICT sector to promote the country’s integration into the global arena.
