SINGAPORE, June 24 (PTI) — An Indian citizen was allegedly crushed to death when a concrete wall of a building collapsed at a construction site in Singapore’s central business district.

The Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) committee said on Friday that the incident occurred on June 15 while he was walking on a path outside his workplace.

After nearly four hours of effort, the body of construction worker Vinos Kumar was recovered from the rubble.

The 20-year-old man from Tamil Nadu, who was working at the site, was reported missing at around 2pm that day at the demolition site of the Fuji Xerox building in the Tanjong Pagar district.

He was found crushed under the collapsed reinforced concrete structure at around 6pm. He had no pulse and was not breathing.

“On 15 June 2023, a section of wall on the second floor of a building that was being demolished collapsed,” the WSH committee said.

“A worker was walking along the pavement next to the site hoarding when he was pinned down by the collapsed building. He was rescued from the rubble and pronounced dead at the scene,” the statement said.
