LOS ANGELES, July 9 (AP) — Los Angeles police arrested a suspect Saturday morning in what appeared to be a series of random shootings that wounded one victim, a news report said.
The suspect allegedly opened fire on people at random in East Los Angeles and Boyle Heights, according to KTLA-TV. The shootings reportedly took place between 6:20 a.m. and 7:20 a.m.
The suspect was not immediately identified after the Los Angeles Police Department found an unmanned vehicle believed to be used in the attack. Police later arrested a man matching the description of the suspect as he left a nearby residence, KTLA reported.
Police searched the vehicle and found a rifle believed to have been used in the shooting, the TV station reported.

Police said the first shooting occurred around 6:20 a.m. when a man in his 30s was seriously injured while walking down the street. A suspect armed with a rifle reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle. Police told KTLA that the victim was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.
The second shooting occurred around 7:20 a.m. when a masked man armed with a rifle began firing before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. A third shooting of a similar suspect with a rifle was reported in the Boyle Heights community. No one was injured at the scene of the second and third shootings, KTLA reported.
The shootings in east Los Angeles came on the same day a suspect killed an 87-year-old man on a motorcycle in two New York City boroughs and wounded three others in a series of random shootings, police said .
A 25-year-old man was taken into custody by police who recovered a motorcycle and a handgun with extended magazines, New York City Assistant Police Chief Joseph Kenny said. (Associated Press)
