Cheryl Burke has exited “Dancing With the Stars.”
The 38-year-old dancer has competed in the ABC ballroom competition almost every year as a professional dancer since 2007, but is now officially stepping down in order to focus on the “next phase” of her career.
On Sunday (November 20, 2022), she wrote on Instagram: “I sit here with conflicting emotions about the words I’m about to write…tomorrow night will officially be me as a professional dancer at @dancingwiththestars The Last Dance on. It has definitely been one of the hardest decisions of my life and I believe it was the right one. The show has been my second family since I was 21. Actors, work personnel
The fans have seen my highs and lows and I honestly don’t know who I am today without them. I also knew it was time to start the next phase of my career, although dance will always be a part of who I am. “
The “Dance Moms” star — who is married to “Boys Meets World” actor Matthew Lawrence from 2019 until 2022 — went on to add that she’s “excited” for the future and teased that there are some new projects on the horizon.
She added: “I’m excited about evolving ideas, taking on challenges in new ways, having the ability to expand my commitment to mental health advocacy, and focusing on my newfound love of podcasting, and I’m ready to face the odds. Certainty (although it’s as scary as sh**) what’s going to happen in the future – I do have a few things I can sit on the sidelines though, so don’t worry.” (sic)
