UAE: 2 new lanes open in Abu Dhabi for electric car testing permits

Abu Dhabi: With the growing popularity of electric vehicles (EVs) in Abu Dhabi, the emirate has opened dedicated new lanes for testing EVs for licensing purposes.

Abu Dhabi Police, in partnership with ADNOC Distribution Company, opened two lanes to test electric vehicles – one at ADNOC Vehicle Testing Center in the Muroor area and the other at Al Bateen Vehicle Testing Center in Al Ain.

The development serves EV owners and is designed to give them priority in checking their EVs through these specially prepared lanes.

Brigadier General Muhammad Al Buraik Al Amiri, Director, Driver and Vehicle Licensing Department, Central Operations, said: “The opening of the two lanes is an unprecedented step to achieve expectations and common goals between Headquarters covering all groups, documenting customer satisfaction in the government’s implementation of the National Quality of Life Strategy and a sound Abu Dhabi government strategy that takes into account the needs of the community.”

He added: “The Abu Dhabi Police Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority seeks to collaborate with strategic partner ADNOC Distribution to deliver excellence and excellence in a package aimed at establishing a joint working system for both parties in order to improve the field of light vehicle technical inspections. Service Level.”
